Photo compression
How to compress a photo under 100 KB on iPhone
Online forms often reject an image because its file is too large. You can reduce a JPG or PNG toward a target size locally, without sending it to an online compressor.

Use the right order
- Check whether the portal says “less than 100 KB” or “100 KB maximum,” and note any pixel dimensions it also requires.
- If dimensions are specified, resize or create the correctly sized image first. Compressing a huge image without resizing wastes quality.
- Open Compress an image in Photo Lili, select the file, and choose a target below the limit—for example, 95 KB for a 100 KB portal.
- Preview the result. Make sure the eyes, face edges and textural detail remain clear.
- Save the new JPEG and upload that copy. Your original photo remains unchanged.
Why the result may not be exactly 100 KB
JPEG size depends on image detail, noise, dimensions and metadata. A target is an optimization goal rather than a mathematical guarantee. If the result is still too large, reduce the target slightly or confirm that the pixel dimensions are not larger than the portal needs.
Protect image quality
- Start from a sharp original rather than repeatedly compressing an already compressed file.
- Keep a small margin below the portal’s limit.
- Inspect the final photo at full size before uploading.
- Do not reduce dimensions below the application’s minimum.
Compress without an upload
Photo Lili processes the selected image on your iPhone and saves a new copy to Photos.
